Epaulette Claims 2012 Caulfield Guineas Prelude Win – Results

October 3rd, 2012

Epaulette has won the Group 3 Caulfield Guineas Prelude at Caulfield Racecourse last Sunday September 30, 2012.

The Commands gelding has won four of his seven race starts and has earned more than $980,000 in prize money during his career.

Epaulette made a successful return to the track after also winning his most recent race in the $1 million Golden Rose on September 15, 2012.

The three-year-old won the 2012 Caulfield Guineas Prelude by a head in front of Let Go Lenni, who placed in second, and Awesome Bro, who crossed the line in third.

Epaulette will most likely have his next race start in the $1 million Caulfield Guineas before a possible run in the $3 million Cox Plate on October 27.

The young colt has come a long way since finishing last in the $3.5 million Golden Slipper in April this year.

With trainer Peter Snowden insisting that was out of character for the galloper, Epaulette made a successful return to racing this spring to show his true class.

Epaulette was paying odds of $2 to win the 2012 Caulfield Guineas Prelude and bookmaker.com.au and was the race favourite.

Second favourite, Ashokan, finished fourth in the race.

The More Than Ready colt has won one of his seven race starts and has earned more than $200,000 in prize money.

Ashokan placed third in the Golden Rose prior to his 2012 Caulfield Guineas Prelude run.
