Anacheeva Beats Toorak Toff in 2010 Caulfield Guineas Prelude

September 20th, 2010

Anacheeva has moved up the markets for the 2010 Caulfield Guineas after the smart colt scored a surprise win in the $175,000 Group 3 Caulfield Guineas Prelude (1400m) at Caulfield on Saturday.

Anacheeva ($10) pulled out a powerful late burst to beat the odds-on favourite Toorak Toff ($2.25) by a long neck in the 2010 Caulfield Guineas Prelude, with Skilled ($11) a close third just a head back.

After the win Sportsbet slashed Anacheeva’s odds to win the $1 million Caulfield Guineas into $8, trailing equal favourites Toorak Toff and Ilovethiscity.

The Group 3 Thousand Guineas Prelude (1400m) was also held on Saturday and saw the Peter Snowden-trained Divorces defeat Sistine Angels and Panipique while $3 favourite Ringa Ringa Rosie failed and finished 11th.
